Springboks attack coach Tony Brown has revealed that he has no break clause in his contract that will enable him to join the All Blacks without negotiating with SA Rugby first.<\/p>\n
The 51-year-old was speaking publicly for the first time since Scott Robertson was sacked as New Zealand head coach midway through his four-year contract.<\/p>\n
While none of Robertson\u2019s<\/a> assistants have so far got the boot, his successor may want to bring in his own coaching team.<\/p>\n Links with Jamie Joseph<\/p>\n Jamie Joseph is the favourite to take New Zealand into the next Rugby World Cup in Australia and he has often formed a double act with Brown.<\/p>\n Some were speculating whether the assistant has a clause which would allow New Zealand Rugby<\/a> to prize him away from South Africa<\/a>, but he confirmed that there isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m obviously contracted. I don\u2019t have an \u2018out\u2019 of my contract, so I\u2019m back in South Africa [until the Rugby World Cup],\u201d Brown told The Post.<\/a><\/p>\n NZR could of course approach SA Rugby and negotiate a deal to take him back home, but that would likely involve a significant compensation fee.<\/p>\n Even if something can be agreed, it would still require Brown himself to want to leave his job at the back-to-back world champions, where he has become a valuable member of the coaching team under Rassie Erasmus.<\/p>\n The attack coach did not rule anything out but, as things stand, he has not been contacted by the New Zealand governing body about the matter.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything\u2019s just speculation. I\u2019m not even sure what New Zealand Rugby\u2019s plans are. No one\u2019s really heard anything,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
