Seyfried, who could be in the running at the 2026 Academy Awards following her nominations for her titular role as Ann Lee at this year\u2019s Golden Globes and Critics\u2019 Choice Awards, added: \u201cLongevity in an actor\u2019s career is designed.<\/p>\n
\u201cLongevity is about deliberate choices to make art among the big commercial things that are fun and pay. But, for me, all of it is art.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, The Housemaid is a thriller that didn\u2019t cost a lot to make, and made a lot of money, and is a box-office hit. And yet every single choice I made in that movie was as artful as the choices I made in Ann Lee.<\/p>\n
\u201cI finally was able to marry the two in my heart and in my head, and I realised that is what I want for the rest of my career. I\u2019m going to jump between genres as much as I can, and jump between indies and studios. So I\u2019ve gotten this far without an Oscar. Why would I need one now?\u201d<\/p>\n
And amid making thoughtful choices, Seyfried, who will find out if she has been nominated for a 2026 Oscar on Thursday, understands that career success goes up and down.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI feel I\u2019m already proven. I\u2019m getting people to trust me to do hard things.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all have ebbs and flows in our careers, and how we\u2019re perceived can change from day to day, but I\u2019m consistent in my choices, and I\u2019m consistent in my values and my needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m also sitting pretty right now, because The Housemaid made money. That\u2019s not always the case. Sometimes you\u2019re in Mamma Mia!
