{"id":242289,"date":"2026-01-20T09:36:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T09:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/242289\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T09:36:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T09:36:07","slug":"are-weekly-food-waste-collections-worth-the-money","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/242289\/","title":{"rendered":"Are weekly food waste collections worth the money?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In Lincolnshire, household food waste collections are to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c74vx7xnky4o\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rolled out across parts of the county<\/a> for the first time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Four district councils will launch the initiative in April, with the other three following in the autumn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Lincolnshire County Council said food waste would be made into nutrient-rich fertiliser for farms, as well as renewable energy to power homes and businesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Rachel Stamp, waste partnerships and projects manager, said the council believed the changes would bring &#8220;consistency across the country&#8221; and was likely to &#8220;account for 7% on our recycling rate&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She added: &#8220;It&#8217;s a really good thing.
