\n\tMartin Short<\/a> will be the subject of a new Netflix documentary. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMarty, Life Is Short\u201d will chronicle the rise and career longevity of the legendary comedian. The 75-year-old became famous as a writer and performer on \u201cSCTV\u201d in the 1970s and parlayed his sketch comedy success to big and small screen hits, including \u201cFather of the Bride,\u201d \u201cThree Amigos,\u201d \u201cDamages\u201d and \u201cOnly Murders in the Building.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLawrence Kasdan directed \u201cMarty, Life Is Short,\u201d described in a press release as the \u201cdefinitive documentary\u201d on Short. The film, which will include archival footage and new interviews with the influential funnyman and his famous friends, is set to debut on May 12.<\/p>\n

\n\tKasdan is best known for writing such blockbusters as \u201cRaiders of the Lost Ark,\u201d \u201cThe Bodyguard\u201d and several \u201cStar Wars\u201d films, including \u201cThe Empire Strikes Back,\u201d \u201cReturn of the Jedi\u201d and \u201cThe Force Awakens.\u201d He\u2019s also the director of \u201cBody Heat,\u201d \u201cGrand Canyon\u201d and \u201cThe Big Chill.\u201d He and Short had previously collaborated on 1999\u2019s \u201cMumford,\u201d a comedic drama about a small-town psychologist who gives unconventional advice to\u00a0neurotic\u00a0residents.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMarty, Life Is Short\u201d was produced by Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Christopher St. John, Justin Wilkes, Kasdan and Blair Foster. Imagine Entertainment founders Brian Grazer and Ron Howard\u00a0are executive producers on the documentary.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is Short\u2019s second project with Netflix following the 2018 comedy special \u201cAn Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life,\u201d which he made alongside Steve Martin. The two friends, who have become one of Hollywood\u2019s most enduring duos, became close while shooting the 1986 film \u201cThree Amigos\u201d and then shared the screen in two \u201cFather of the Bride\u201d films as well as \u201cOnly Murders in the Building.\u201d In a 2018 interview with Variety<\/a> with Martin tied to \u201cAn Evening You Will Forget,\u201d Short spoke about his approach to choosing the projects and parts that led to his long career in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve just gone from thing to thing, if it sounded fascinating or interesting or adventurous. I never really thought in terms of, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m on this medium or that medium.\u2019 I\u2019m a Canadian actor.
