{"id":242873,"date":"2026-01-20T17:44:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T17:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/242873\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T17:44:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T17:44:10","slug":"ikeas-nz-store-tops-global-food-sales-in-first-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/242873\/","title":{"rendered":"IKEA&#8217;s NZ store tops global food sales in first month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IKEA&#8217;s first New Zealand store has welcomed more than 500,000 visitors in its first 30 days, with the megastore at Auckland&#8217;s Sylvia Park surpassing expectations across foot traffic, food sales, and digital engagement, the company says.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish homeware giant made its long-awaited arrival in Aotearoa on December 4.<\/p>\n<p>IKEA Sylvia Park marketing manager Johanna Cederl\u00f6f said the opening month had delivered an &#8220;extraordinary response from New Zealanders&#8221;, with the store recording 28,780 shoppers on its busiest day, and another 1.9 million people visiting online.<\/p>\n<p>Cederl\u00f6f said New Zealand\u2019s enthusiasm had helped the Sylvia Park store rank number one globally for IKEA food sales during the period. <\/p>\n<p>More than 54,000 hot dogs and 28,000 plates of meatballs were served, and demand for the chain\u2019s signature lingonberry jam was so high the store temporarily sold out.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More has arrived, don\u2019t worry,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/take-a-walk-through-the-countrys-first-ikea-store-2UGWRXZNZVCOTGCAYBQ3H6M7IQ.png\" alt=\"A 1News camera was given access to the store this morning for a first look at some of the products on offer.\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"ImageMetadata__MetadataParagraph-sc-hi5x8q-0 cWTYyG image-metadata\">A 1News camera was given access to the store this morning for a first look at some of the products on offer.
