Recently returning to training on a lighter load than his teammates, Metcalf is looking forward to getting back to the field.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rehab\u2019s looking really well, actually,\u201d Metcalf said on SEN 1170 Breakfast. \u201cI couldn\u2019t want it to go probably any smoother than it has.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m about five and a half months in at the moment. The timeline\u2019s around that nine-month mark, which would be I think about Round 7.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t have an exact date, but around that Round 7 mark would be pretty good. <\/p>\n
\u201c(I\u2019ve) got my mate Mitch Barnett there, we\u2019re doing it together so it\u2019s always easier having that person there to do it with. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m loving getting back into training, slowly getting back into the team stuff, and hopefully it can keep going fast.\u201d<\/p>\n
Barnett is set to be available five weeks before the playmaker as he eyes a return in Round 2. A representative forward for Australia and New South Wales, Barnett also sustained an ACL injury midway through last season which subsequently ruled him out for the final two matches of the 2025 State of Origin series and the Ashes series against England.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Mitch is) going really good\u2026 I\u2019ll say he\u2019s probably about five weeks ahead, because I think he got surgery about five weeks before me,\u201d Metcalf added.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, I would say you might see him in action a little earlier, but I\u2019m in a bit of a race with him, at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

FORMER FIJI, BULLDOGS JUNIORS PLAYER MOURNED<\/p>\n
The rugby league community is in mourning following the passing of Fijian international and former Canterbury Bulldogs junior Mesake \u2018Mes\u2019 Ravonu.<\/p>\n
A talented young kid who was also dedicated and humble, Ravonu has passed away at the age of 22 after losing his battle to kidney disease.<\/p>\n
Forced to retire in 2024, Ravonu was previously a member of the Bulldogs system and was destined for a bright future, which saw him represent Fiji Bati on the international stage at the 2023 Pacific Championships.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are deeply saddened to share the passing of our long-term client and friend, Mesake \u2018Mes\u2019 Ravonu, who lost his battle with kidney disease on January 19, 2026, at age 22,\u201d a statement from his management said.<\/p>\n
