We have seen several rumors over the last few months on the fate of the iPhone 18 Pro<\/a>\u2019s front-facing cameras, but well-known sources hint it might not be as drastic as expected.<\/p>\n

In a recent post on Weibo (via AppleLeaks<\/a>), Instant Digital revealed that recent rumors surrounding the placement of the iPhone 18 Pro\u2019s front camera<\/a> and under-display Face ID<\/a> could be due to a mistranslation. Apparently, Chinese and Korean publications had mentioned that the iPhone 18 Pro would feature an under-display infrared sensor in the top left corner of the display. This was then mistranslated by an unnamed English media outlet to mean a puch hole camera design in the left corner.<\/p>\n

This post was followed by an image of what appears to be the components for the display camera block, which shows a selfie camera that will sit in the center of the display, alongside a Face ID sensor with a small cutout. This would mean that, while it will be smaller, the sensor will not be placed under the screen. This was backed up by now-retired display analyst Ross Young<\/a>, who commented on the post, stating, \u201cYes this is what I alluded to months ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

If accurate, then this would mean that the camera and Face ID layout on the front of the iPhone 18 Pro won\u2019t look drastically different from the <\/a>iPhone 17 Pr<\/a>o series. It would also mean that the phone will likely feature a constant Dynamic Island, rather than one that will appear when necessary.<\/p>\n

Of course, the display is only half the story when it comes to the next generation of Apple phones. While Apple itself is remaining characteristically tight-lipped on the actual hardware, we have seen a lot of rumors about Apple\u2019s new phones.<\/p>\n

For instance, we have heard a lot about the A20 Pro chipset that is expected feature as part of the phone. This new silicone is believed to be the first to use a 2nm process,<\/a> which could mean more processing power and battery efficiency, as well as Apple\u2019s in-house designed C2 modem<\/a>. We\u2019ve also heard that the iPhone 18 Pro\u2019s cameras could feature a variable aperture, <\/a>although there are rumors that this may only be available on the iPhone 18 Pro Max<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s still a lot that we don\u2019t know about the next generation of iPhones, including what Apple plans to release in 2026. Currently, it\u2019s speculated that Apple will launch the iPhone Pro series and the iPhone Fold in September<\/a>. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 will reportedly be held back until 2027<\/a>, releasing alongside the iPhone Air 2.<\/p>\n
