For this? Vanilla roast parsnips!?<\/p>\n Perhaps the inclusion of dill that is so popular in central and eastern Europe \u2013 as controversial as it is<\/a> with our Guardian colleague Shaun Walker \u2013 could make it slightly more appealing to him?<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Back to Greenland, that TV2 piece<\/a> I referenced earlier (22:47<\/a>) has also another anecdote about how the same two Danish ministers for foreign and defence found out about Trump\u2019s decision to drop retaliatory tariffs on Europeans.<\/p>\n The broadcaster says they were out dining with the UK defence minister, John Healey, who was in Copenhagen on Wednesday night, chatting over a plate of fish and chips of sorts (or \u201ca pan-fried turbot with fumet, fennel, cabbage and potatoes,\u201d as the menu has it<\/a>), when they got the message.<\/p>\n On his way back from the dinner, defence minister Poulsen reportedly called Nato\u2019s Mark Rutte to get his reading about his discussions with Trump, who had already briefed PM Frederiksen about his conversations with the US president, the broadcaster claimed.<\/p>\n Again: at least that\u2019s what TV2 says.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a017.34 EST<\/p>\n Europeans ‘have to do something about immigration,’ Trump says<\/p>\n Closing his remarks on Air Force Trump, Trump also claims that some unnamed European leaders \u201ctold me openly that they wish they had our border,\u201d as he repeated his criticism of Europe\u2019s open borders.<\/p>\n \u201cThey have to do something about immigration,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He later briefly addresses the latest controversy about new bruising on his hands (he clipped it on a table and repeats an old line<\/a> about taking an \u2018big\u2019 aspirin tablet which he says contributes to bruising), and that wraps up the briefing.<\/p>\n Share<\/a> In Poland\u2019s case it\u2019s a bit more complicated than Trump makes it sound: the centrist, pro-EU government seems to oppose the idea of joining the \u2018Board of Peace\u2019 (in line with most EU governments), and the president, Trump ally Nawrocki, cannot join it without the government\u2019s backing and a majority in the parliament.<\/p>\n So Poland appears to be displaying some strategic ambiguity there by saying it\u2019s interested to keep Trump on side, but in fact it\u2019s actually unlikely to join, at least for now. But things change, obviously.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a017.18 EST<\/p>\n Trump says his ‘Board of Peace’ is open to more European countries, claims Italy, Poland mulling move to join<\/p>\n Trump also gets asked if other countries, like the UK or France, will want to join his Board of Peace.<\/p>\n He says he thinks they will want to, but in some cases they need to get legislative approval.<\/p>\n He says Italy\u2019s Giorgia Meloni and Poland\u2019s Karol Nawrocki both said they wanted to join, but would need to go through formalities first.<\/p>\n He then pointedly praises Nawrocki, reminding reporters he endorsed him in last year\u2019s presidential election in Poland.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s great, by the way. He later repeats it was a \u201cvery good\u201d meeting.<\/p>\n He says Europe will also be going a part of the deal, if it comes through.<\/p>\n Trump claims that both Zelenskyy and Putin \u201cwant to make a deal\u201d, and says that Zelenskyy repeatedly said that during their meeting today.<\/p>\n He says he spoke with Zelenskyy about the dramatic situation of the Ukrainian people, with no energy and heat in extremely low temperatures.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s pretty amazing what they do to live. That\u2019s no way to live,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n On the UAE meeting this weekend, he says:<\/p>\n \u201cAnytime we meet, it\u2019s good.
