A viral post is making the rounds today, showcasing what appears to be an iPhone Air<\/a> modified to include a SIM card slot.<\/p>\n

Based on multiple reports on Chinese tech websites and social media, the mod was made by a creator credited simply as Huaqiangbei, which is also the name of a subdistrict of Shenzhen famous for selling cheap electronics.<\/p>\n

According to multiple reports<\/a> and posts<\/a> about the viral video, the mod was achieved by replacing Apple\u2019s haptic feedback component with a smaller, less potent motor, making space for the SIM tray.<\/p>\n

As it usually happens with viral posts of modified iPhones, there is no shortage of comments claiming that, rather than being an original iPhone Air that was modified, the device is simply a clone meant to look exactly like Apple\u2019s device.<\/p>\n
