Rooted in more than 60 years of creative exploration, the refreshed name reflects the organization’s growth while staying true to its belief that creativity is for everyone.

Founded in 1965 by Chicago filmmaker and artist Madeline Tripp Tourtelot, Peninsula School of Art began as a welcoming place for creative exploration on the Door County peninsula. That original spirit, rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and community, remains at the heart of PenArt today.

“The transition to PenArt better reflects the energy and spirit of our organization,” said Adam Erickson, Executive Director of PenArt. “We’re more than a school.
