{"id":251637,"date":"2026-01-25T22:36:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T22:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/251637\/"},"modified":"2026-01-25T22:36:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T22:36:15","slug":"no-funding-commitment-for-new-roscommon-psychiatric-unit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/251637\/","title":{"rendered":"No funding commitment for new Roscommon psychiatric unit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mental Health Minister has not committed to funding for a new psychiatric unit in Roscommon.<\/p>\n<p>The revelation comes as Minister Mary Butler was quizzed over the status of a new psychiatric unit at Cavan General Hospital in the D\u00e1il.<\/p>\n<p>In her response, the Minister named-checked Roscommon as one of the proposed projects.<\/p>\n<p>In December, it was revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shannonside.ie\/news\/design-team-to-be-in-place-in-march-for-new-psychiatric-unit-in-roscommon-279565\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a design team will be appointed by March<\/a> to begin planning a new 50-bed acute inpatient psychiatric unit in Roscommon.<\/p>\n<p>Almost \u20ac1.6 billion was allocated to the mental health sector in Budget 2026.<\/p>\n<p>While not committing to who has been successful, Minister Butler says the work being done cannot go unnoticed:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Mental Health Minister has not committed to funding for a new psychiatric unit in Roscommon.
