Kinetic New Zealand is set to deliver one of the largest zero-emission bus rollouts in Dunedin after Go Bus was awarded a set of two significant network contracts by the Otago Regional Council (ORC).<\/p>\n

The contracts, which have been valued at around 100 million NZD, span the course of nine years, and commence in October 2026.<\/p>\n

The buses will enter service in the city of Dunedin<\/p>\n

In total, 37 new electric buses will join the Dunedin network, bringing its Kinetic-operated zero-emission fleet to 53 vehicles.<\/p>\n

The expansion will see roughly half of Dunedin\u2019s bus services transition to zero-emission operations, and reinforces Kinetic\u2019s position on a global scale \u2013 with over 1,500 zero-emission buses operating across 33 depots worldwide.<\/p>\n

We don’t just operate contracts \u2013 we invest in the depots, charging infrastructure and fleet needed to make zero-emission transport possible.<\/p>\n

From our purpose-built Portsmouth Drive depot in Dunedin, to technology such as overhead gantry charging systems in Auckland and Melbourne, we’re building the infrastructure that supports cities transition to cleaner, quieter public transport and we’re proud to be leading that transition across our global network.<\/p>\n

Services on the new buses will operate from Go Bus\u2019s Portsmouth Drive depot, which was purpose-built in 2025 to support the gorwing zero-emission fleet. Further support will be provided by a fully electrified satellite depot in Mosgiel.<\/p>\n
