{"id":253204,"date":"2026-01-26T23:28:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T23:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/253204\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T23:28:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T23:28:08","slug":"amber-heard-on-johnny-depp-trials-lawsuits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/253204\/","title":{"rendered":"Amber Heard on Johnny Depp Trials, Lawsuits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/amber_heard\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amber Heard<\/a> is giving a rare statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Aquaman actress detailed the toll her legal battles with ex-husband <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/johnny_depp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Johnny Depp<\/a> have taken on her life in the new documentary Silenced, which explores how defamation laws have been used against women who have come forward with allegations of abuse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not about me,\u201d she told director Selina Miles, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/amber-heard-johnny-depp-sundance-silenced-1236639996\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Variety<\/a>, in the documentary that premiered at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/sundance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sundance Film Festival<\/a> Jan. 24. \u201cI have lost my ability to speak. I am not here to tell my story. I don\u2019t want to tell my story. In fact, I don\u2019t want to use my voice anymore. That\u2019s the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after Heard, 39, filed for divorce from Depp, 62, in 2016, she accused her ex of being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/768615\/amber-heard-denied-50-000-monthly-spousal-support-from-johnny-depp-11-more-things-we-learned-from-the-court-documents\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cverbally and physically abusive\u201d towards her<\/a>, which he denied.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, the Pirates of the Caribbean star sued the U.K.\u2019s The Sun newspaper over a story that labeled him a \u201cwife beater\u201d in reference to Heard. She worked with international human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson on her involvement in the trial, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1204267\/johnny-depp-loses-libel-case-against-british-tabloid\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">which Depp lost in 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Amber Heard is giving a rare statement.
