We\u2019re going to need brother-in-law Ringo<\/a> on soup duty. Joe Walsh didn\u2019t perform with the Eagles for the first time in 50 years this past weekend, owing to a flu diagnosis that left him too sick to take the stage. Rolling Stone reports<\/a> that Don Henley relayed the news to attendees at the band\u2019s Sphere residency on January 24; fans weren\u2019t notified of the absence prior to that moment. \u201cWe could either cancel the whole thing or we could man up and do the show,\u201d he said. \u201cSo we came down here this afternoon and had an emergency rehearsal for two hours. And fortunately, in this band, we have a deep bench.\u201d Henley confirmed Walsh was also ill during the previous evening\u2019s Sphere show, but he managed to finish despite going offstage for a few songs to rest. \u201cJoe\u2019s going to be okay,\u201d he added. \u201cHe just needs some time. Give him some love.\u201d While Vince Gill and Deacon Frey managed to serve as apt substitutes for Walsh\u2019s parts, the James Gang track \u201cFunk #49\u201d \u2014 the band always spotlights work from Walsh\u2019s and Henley\u2019s respective oeuvres \u2014 was replaced by the Eagles\u2019 first No. 1 hit, \u201cBest of My Love,\u201d to accommodate the restructure. The band\u2019s next show is January 30. Until then, we\u2019ll have \u201cLife\u2019s Been Good\u201d on repeat.<\/p>\n
