Since then, we’ve heard it remixed, reimagined, and used for all sorts of advertising goodness.

What I’m about to show you here won’t make some corporation money, but it’s worth checkin’ out simply for the dark and solemnity that black metal outfit UADA put into their rendition of Nirvana’s “Something In The Way” from their breakout record Nevermind.

This single comes off the heels of the band releasing another track — their acoustic version of “The Purging Fire”. With this new cover now out in the wild, Jake Superchi said it was a huge departure from UADA.

“When UADA was formed, a rule was set: no covers, in pursuit of carving a wholly independent voice. We allowed ourselves to bend that rule. Recruiting a cellist for this project created a rare alignment—a moment to pay homage to one of the most formative and regional influences of my youth. While staying close to the original arrangement, we allowed our interpretation to take on its own bleak, glacial weight—one that echoes through the song’s timeless sorrow.”

In addition to all that, UADA are also going to be co-headlining with Mortiis for a run of shows throughout North America dubbed the ‘Witches of Dystopia’ tour.
