When it comes to the Today<\/a> show, Jenna Bush Hager<\/a> has encountered plenty of change over the years.<\/p>\n After Hoda Kotb<\/a> exited the series<\/a> in January 2025 and Jenna hosted her own show on Today\u2019s fourth hour for months, fans have wondered if someone would be able to replace Hoda as Jenna\u2019s permanent co-host. Well, that happened on January 12, when Sheinelle Jones<\/a> stepped in for the duo\u2019s joint segment, Today With Jenna and Sheinelle<\/a>. <\/p>\n As Jenna exclusively shared with Good Housekeeping, Sheinelle was the perfect fit to join her in the final slot of the Today show. She says Sheinelle\u2019s personal journey, including the May 2025 death<\/a> of her late husband, Uche Ojeh<\/a>, adds a level of empathy to the show that fans may have missed when she was without a permanent co-host.<\/p>\n \u201c[Compassion and empathy] is in the ethos of the DNA of what the show has been since the genesis\u2014even before I was part of it,\u201d Jenna told us. \u201cThere’s an openness, we hope, to the flow of the fourth hour. And if Sheinelle feels comfortable sharing, I am going to be part of it. I think it\u2019s so beautiful, and you know, many people are hurting in our world for a variety of reasons. So, to have somebody who obviously is going through real grief, but also can show up, start something new, be joyful every day, at least outwardly, it’s pretty empowering for people.\u201d<\/p>\n More GH Exclusives from Jenna and Sheinelle<\/p>\n Jenna also noted that with a new co-host comes new friendships\u2014and she\u2019s ready to go all in on her bond with Sheinelle.<\/p>\n \u201cI think [Today With Jenna and Sheinelle] is proof that you can always fall in love again and create new friendships,\u201d she added. \u201cWhen Hoda and I started, we were definitely friendly, and I adored her. But by the time it was over, we had a totally different relationship. But Sheinelle and I, we\u2019ve known each other for a decade-plus and have been friends\u2014it\u2019s a totally different thing.
