{"id":256791,"date":"2026-01-29T01:12:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T01:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/256791\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T01:12:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T01:12:06","slug":"zuckerberg-teases-agentic-commerce-tools-and-major-ai-rollout-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/256791\/","title":{"rendered":"Zuckerberg teases agentic commerce tools and major AI rollout in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mark Zuckerberg says Meta users will start to see new AI models and products from the company in a matter of months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn 2025, we rebuilt the foundations of our AI program,\u201d Zuckerberg said <a href=\"https:\/\/investor.atmeta.com\/investor-events\/event-details\/2026\/Q4-2025-Earnings-Call\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">on an investor call Wednesday<\/a>, referring to the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/06\/30\/meta-restructures-its-ai-unit-under-superintelligence-labs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently restructured AI lab<\/a>. \u201cOver the coming months, we\u2019re going to start shipping our new models and products\u2026 and I expect us to steadily push the frontier over the course of the new year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But while Zuckerberg didn\u2019t give specific timelines or products, he highlighted AI-driven commerce as a particular area of focus for Meta.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis also has implications for commerce,\u201d Zuckerberg continued. \u201cNew agentic shopping tools will allow people to find just the right set of products from the businesses in our catalog.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That proposal echoes <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/10\/07\/openai-and-the-race-for-ai-driven-commerce\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">broader interest in AI-powered shopping assistants<\/a> across the industry. Both <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/09\/16\/google-launches-new-protocol-for-agent-driven-purchases\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/09\/29\/openai-takes-on-google-amazon-with-new-agentic-shopping-system\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a> have built platforms for agent-enabled transactions, with companies like Stripe and Uber signed on as partners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But while other AI labs have already built significant technical infrastructure, Meta believes its access to personal data will prove uniquely valuable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re starting to see the promise of AI that understands our personal context, including our history, our interests, our content and our relationships,\u201d Zuckerberg said on the call. \u201cA lot of what makes agents valuable is the unique context that they can see, and we believe that Meta will be able to provide a uniquely personal experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Techcrunch event<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSan Francisco<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t|<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOctober 13-15, 2026\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/business\/news\/manus-joins-meta-accelerating-ai-innovation-for-businesses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">In December<\/a>, Meta acquired the general-purpose agent developer Manus, which provides similar technology. At the time, Meta said it would \u201ccontinue to operate and sell the Manus service, as well as integrate it into our products.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investor call was timed to the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/investor.atmeta.com\/investor-news\/press-release-details\/2026\/Meta-Reports-Fourth-Quarter-and-Full-Year-2025-Results\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Meta\u2019s most recent quarterly earnings<\/a>, which also disclosed a significant increase in new infrastructure spending. The company now anticipates that it will spend between $115 billion and $135 billion on overall capital expenditures over the course of 2026, up from $72 billion in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its official filing, Meta attributed the jump to \u201cincreased investment to support our Meta Superintelligence Labs efforts and core business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While significant, the figure still falls short of the projected $600 billion that Zuckerberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/briefings\/meta-plans-spend-600-billion-2028-u-s-zuckerberg-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reportedly projected<\/a> for Meta\u2019s infrastructure spending through 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta has previously drawn criticism from investors for failing to clearly state how its massive AI investment will translate to the company\u2019s bottom line.
