There is an outwardly unremarkable terraced house in South London that conceals an explosion of colour and art within \u2013 the House of Dreams<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also open to the public, but tickets tend to sell out months in advance.<\/p>\n

So, call this a reminder that if you haven\u2019t visited, then it\u2019s a good time to book some tickets, as the wait can be lengthy.<\/p>\n

The House of Dreams is the domestic home of the artist and designer, Stephen Wright, who over 20 years ago, turned his back on trained art and started filling his home with anything he fancied.<\/p>\n

As an experience, it can best be compared to Dennis Severs House or David Parr\u2019s House \u2013 a total immersion in a person\u2019s vision. It\u2019s not a space to visit to stand back and admire, if only because there\u2019s barely enough space in here to do that. It\u2019s an experience. Even if the art is repellent to you, the overall experience is what draws people in.<\/p>\n

The House of Dreams is open one Saturday per month, and tickets are available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can find it on Melbourne Grove, a few minutes walk from East Dulwich station (Southern) or about 20 minutes walk from Denmark Hill station (London Overground Weaver line)<\/p>\n
