Prince Harry has shown the public there’s another side to royalty – one that includes catching waves in sunny California.

A clip posted to Instagram shows Harry, 41, and Tahitian surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer catching a six-foot wave together in Leemore, central California.

The manmade wave pool, nicknamed the

“Surf Ranch”, belongs to world champion surfer Kelly Slater, who has owned the mammoth wave since 2015. Prince Harry is said to be a repeat visitor, with other celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey and Lewis Hamilton making an appearance over the years.

Harry appears to have taken the wave fairly easily, with Van Bastolaer having navigated him through previous surfing lessons.

NZ Herald 2 Feb, 2026 06:00 AMQuick Read Subscribe to listenAccess to Herald Premium articles require a Premium…

[32
28358,95,9526,1975,179,13633,430,8608,4187,156,9859,78,51030,702,111,139,69,4940,12886,3109,21528,6747,15041,6102,166,10137,1361,4504,13745
post-263778","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-celebrities","tag-alongside","tag-and","tag-another","tag-at","tag-california","tag-catching","tag-celebrities","tag-comes","tag-cost","tag-entertainment","tag-harry","tag-in","tag-includes","tag-it","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-prince","tag-professional","tag-public","tag-rides","tag-royalty","tag-shown","tag-side","tag-sunny","tag-surfer","tag-that","tag-theres","tag-waves
["GET
