Gerard Butler has become a streaming sensation.<\/p>\n

Butler’s underseen R-rated cop action movie has found redemption on streaming, becoming one of the top movies in the United States. Butler’s best movies<\/a> are often action-packed thrill rides, from the apocalyptic survival movie Greenland to his main role in the political action Has Fallen trilogy<\/a>. His movies offer a blend of fast-paced storytelling and memorable action sequences.<\/p>\n

One of his most recent yet unsung films is 2021’s Copshop<\/a>. Directed and co-written by Joe Carnahan, director and writer of Netflix’s The Rip, Copshop follows Butler as hitman Bob Viddick, who gets embroiled in a battle with rookie police officer Val Young (Alexis Louder) and con artist Teddy Murretto (Frank Grillo). The film didn’t earn much at the box office, but was a critical success.<\/p>\n

Now, FlixPatrol reports that, within just a day of arriving on Netflix, Copshop has made it onto the streaming service’s Top 10 in the United States. According to data pulled from February 2, 2026, Copshop is the Number 2 movie in the United States on the streaming platform. Ironically, this puts it just under Carnahan’s The Rip in the US Top 10.<\/p>\n

It’s not a surprise the movie has managed to rank so highly on Netflix’s Top 10 after just one day of being on streaming. For one, Butler is a big draw thanks to Greenland 2: Migration<\/a>, his latest theatrical release and a sequel to his praised 2020 disaster film. Given it’s an action movie, that only makes the draw heavier.<\/p>\n

Even more helpful is the quality of the movie, with critics having given it plenty of praise when it first came out. The movie holds a Certified Fresh 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviews for Copshop praising Butler and Louder especially for their performances. While the plot earned some criticism for its simplicity, it was still praised for not trying to reinvent the genre.<\/p>\n

Its streaming success is a far cry from its box office performance, though. Copshop only earned $6.8 million against a $43.5 million budget, making it, on paper, a theatrical flop. Luckily, the film’s new life has earned it success via streaming, something that will keep it alive despite its initially disappointing theatrical performance.<\/p>\n

Since Copshop has only just arrived on Netflix, it’s uncertain if the movie could climb higher in chart rankings over the coming days or weeks. Given the Butler-led movie was directed by Carnahan, whose newer film sits at Number 1, there’s a chance the movie earns an even bigger crown amongst the streaming service’s top films.<\/p>\n
