“Wuthering Heights” actor Margot Robbie is steadily building one of the most impactful filmographies in modern Hollywood. From “The Wolf of Wall Street” to “Suicide Squad” and, of course, the “Barbie” movie (which revived the Barbiecore fashion trend<\/a>),\u00a0she’s a solid A-lister who is unlikely to ever run out of offers. That said, the greater the actor, the more shocking their red carpet fails are, and one particular inappropriate outfit Robbie wore had the internet sorely confused.<\/p>\n Now, everyone knows a bit of how Hollywood works \u2014 celebs want you to talk about them. A publicity stunt here, an erratic social media post there, and over-the top risqu\u00e9\u00a0outfits with conveniently timed paparazzi shots. These gimmicks are so common that they aren’t shocking, except when the perpetrators are really popular actors who do not need to score cheap points to make a buzz. Case in point? Margot Robbie’s outfit at the premiere of her September 2025 movie, “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.”<\/p>\n Words do not do enough to describe how confusing Robbie’s outfit was. It seemed like the original black dress she wanted to wear had been hacked to pieces, so she threw on an ill-fitting white piece beneath it to make it less NSFW. Unfortunately, the white corset-like bodice revealed so much of her cleavage that it looked less like a stylistic choice and more like a desperate one. The outfit was also a letdown since we’d listed Robbie as one of the celebrities who nailed method dressing<\/a> based on her “Barbie” press tour fashion. In comparison, this dress was totally unrelated to the theme and general vibe of “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.”<\/p>\n

All the close up shots are terrible and I can only imagine how cheap it looks in person,” one Reddit<\/a> user commented. Another wrote that the look felt like a “Temu jumpsuit over an Amazon bodysuit.” Others pointed out that Robbie didn’t need to dress in ill-fitting, over-exposing outfits, given how popular she already is. One of the most popular comments<\/a> captured the general sentiment perfectly: “GIVE. WOMEN. BRAS. AND. TOPS. THAT. ACTUALLY. FIT.”<\/p>\n As expected, a deserving amount of the backlash was directed at Robbie’s stylist, Andrew Mukamal. Some called it a crime to style the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor so poorly, and even questioned if her stylist was mad at her. “Why on earth would they select that for a movie premiere red carpet??? For one of the leads?!?!” another Reddit\u00a0poster<\/a> questioned. Others commented on how unfinished the dress looked, comparing it to a one-day challenge on Project Runway.
