Gia Margaret is back. The Chicago musician last released a record in 2023 with the mesmeric Romantic Piano<\/a>, and now she’s announcing the succinctly titled followup Singing, so named because it marks her recovery from a vocal injury that kept her from singing for years. The pensive, radiant lead single “Everyone Around Me Dancing” is out today.<\/p>\n

“‘Everyone Around Me Dancing’ is a reflection on feeling isolated and the comfort found in that isolation,” Margaret explains. “It is for taking a pause, for being in observation of a very scary and loud world and it is for finding stillness in our own inner worlds too.”<\/p>\n

Singing was recorded in London, Eau Claire, and Chicago in 2024 and 2025 with Frou Frou\u2019s Guy Sigsworth, David Bazan, Amy Millan, Deb Talan, Kurt Vile, and Sean Carey. Her frequent collaborator Doug Saltzman also plays on and co-produces much of the LP. Watch the music video for “Everyone Around Me Dancing” below.<\/p>\n
