February may be the shortest month of the year, but it\u2019s full of things to do. <\/p>\n

1. Cyrano\u2019s Theater Company presents \u201cThe Fantasticks\u201d<\/p>\n

Mat-Su Untold: A Night of Community Storytelling<\/p>\n Friday, 7 p.m., Palmer Train Depot Tickets include complimentary drinks and snacks. There will also be a live auction with local items and experiences. All proceeds support the Mat-Su Sentinel. General admission tickets are $25 and students are $5<\/a>. <\/p>\n 5. The Backroom Sets<\/p>\n Friday, 6-9 p.m., Double Shovel Cider Co. 6. Governor\u2019s Cup Hockey<\/p>\n Friday and Saturday, various times, Sullivan Arena No worries if you miss this weekend \u2013 the Governor’s Cup<\/a> is back at the Sully Feb. 21-22.<\/p>\n 7. Alaska Black Business Expo<\/p>\n Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m., Anchorage Museum 8. Ski 4 Kids<\/p>\n Saturday, 1:30 p.m., Kincaid Park Registration<\/a> is free, but donations help assure that all kids have access to cross-country ski programs and equipment, regardless of family income level.<\/p>\n 9. Music at the Nave<\/p>\n All weekend, various times, The Nave Alaska\u2019s annual conference for music professionals<\/a> is on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Share knowledge, learn, and grow from other local musicians. This session includes a keynote speech from Timie Dolan, manager of Recording Academy\u2019s Pacific Northwest Chapter, sharing the resources and opportunities the Academy provides. There\u2019s also a panel discussion about fostering community, breakout sessions and a sit-down community meal by Duke Russell. <\/p>\n On Sunday, there\u2019s a networking event<\/a> at Organic Oasis from noon to 3 p.m.Registration<\/a> costs a suggested donation of $10.<\/p>\n 10. Pop-Up Play Day<\/p>\n Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., The Workshop 11. Jewel Lake Jamboree<\/p>\n Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Jewel Lake<\/p>\n Enjoy a packed day full of ice fishing<\/a>, door prizes, warm drinks and more at this free event. Everyone is invited to attend. Fishing holes will be drilled and available for the public to use. There\u2019s a limited amount of rods and bait up for grabs. Anglers are welcome to bring their own poles and bait.The lake was recently stocked with chinook salmon. <\/p>\n Make sure you have your 2026 sport fishing license. Slip on your eyepatches, strap on your peg legs and sharpen your hooks because Midnight Sun Theater will be taking audiences on a swashbuckling adventure on the high seas. Wayne Mitchell\u2019s \u201cPyrates!\u201d<\/a> promises colorful characters, romance and battle. Select dates will also have a post-show \u201cIntroduction to Swashbuckling\u201d workshop.<\/p>\n
Eight Alaska Nordic skiers<\/a> are competing in the 2026 Olympics. To celebrate, there\u2019s an Olympic Watch Party<\/a> in APU\u2019s Earl Brown Theatre. Watch the Milano Cortina Opening Ceremonies live, enjoy refreshments and door prizes. RSVP to info@anchoragenordicski.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Settle in for an evening of storytelling and community<\/a> in a familiar format. Hear seven-minute stories live from locals with the theme of \u201cThings That Move Us.\u201d You\u2019ll laugh, you\u2019ll cry and you\u2019ll learn a thing or two about your neighbors. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and stories start at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
DJs Mark Jacob<\/a> and Clay Nation<\/a> will curate an exclusive listening experience with immersive sound. The set<\/a> is built to keep the room moving \u2013 from house grooves to throwbacks and electronic tracks. Come early for this free event.<\/p>\n
Two rivals will lace up their skates at the 30th anniversary of the Governor\u2019s Cup this weekend. The University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves Hockey will face off against the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks. Admission is free for children younger than 5, with general admission<\/a> ranging up to $20.<\/p>\n
Support, learn about and network with entrepreneurs, crafts people and other professionals at the Anchorage Museum for the 11th Annual Alaska Black Business Expo<\/a>. Additional events include discussions on creative writing, education opportunities, youth business, civic engagement and funding.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of kids participate in this annual event<\/a> that includes various activities from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., including an obstacle course, fat tire biking and more. The main event is a race, and there\u2019s two courses available: the 3K Mize Loop, and the 1K Zoo Peek-a-Boo course. The zoo course will be open before and after the races. It has Alaska animals hidden around the trail, see if you can find them all!<\/p>\n
It\u2019s going to be a high-energy weekend<\/a> in Spenard. Join the Athabascan Fiddlers Band on Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. There\u2019s also a potluck \u2013 bring a dish to share if you\u2019re able to. This is an all-ages event. It costs $10, or pay-what-you-can at the door.<\/p>\n
Bring your creative side to this one. On the first Saturday of each month, make a free craft<\/a> at 1120 Huffman Rd. Then, the Alaska Children\u2019s Museum will show up at 1 p.m. with different hands-on activities.<\/p>\n
