Our teardown of version 10.0.5 of the Zepp app reveals the first mention of Amazfit Active 3 Premium, alongside ongoing support for the unreleased T-Rex Ultra 2.

New device references appear in Zepp 10.0.5

Zepp App 10.0.5 was released a few days ago. We did an analysis of the software and found two upcoming watches referenced in the code. Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2 has already appeared in the previous version. But this marks the first time we’ve seen any mention of an Active 3 model.

The string that appears is for Amazfit Active 3 Premium. There is no sign of a non-premium or standard variant in this build. That could mean Zepp Health is streamlining the product line, or it might suggest a single high-end model is being prepped for launch first. Or maybe it just hasn’t added the code yet for the non-premium version.

How the Active 3 Premium string appears

The reference was found in the app’s internal string resources, which are used to define UI elements and device names for the pairing screen. The entry reads:

Amazfit Active 3 Premium

This matches Zepp Health’s usual naming structure when prepping a new device. There is one additional string referencing the model. The presence of these strings usually indicates app-side support is in active development. There are no images or feature sets tied to the name yet, but it’s likely those will follow in the next few releases.

The Amazfit Active 2 was released in January 2025. We reviewed that device and found it to be great combination of accurate tracking, great battery life and practical features – making it a no-brainer at its price point.

If we look further back, the original Amazfit Active was released globally in October 2023. So there was about a year and 3 or 4 months between Gen 1 and 2. If we apply that same math, we could be looking at Active 3 in late March or April.

T-Rex Ultra 2 still present across the code

As mentioned, the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2 continues to appear in the APK. The device is referenced via string entries in the app’s resources and dex string pools. Specifically, we’ve seen human readable name strings such as the device name and internal variant style keys. These references have remained stable across the last few versions.

There are no signs of new models beyond these two in this version of the app. But Zepp Health tends to push incremental support leading up to launch, so we’ll keep tracking future updates closely.

We also recently spotted a new regulatory filing in Malaysia tied to the model number A2550. That identifier is not associated with any currently available Amazfit watch. It could belong to either Active 3 or Ultra 2, but based on how the app support is shaping up, Ultra 2 looks like the more likely candidate to surface first.

Of course, none of this has been confirmed or denied by Zepp Health. So this is best viewed as an early look rather than a confirmation.

Subscribe to our monthly newsletter!
