Despite weather conditions being set to improve over the weekend, river flooding is still anticipated in some areas on Friday and Saturday, according to the National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG).<\/p>\n

The NECG and its related subgroups met again on Friday to assess the situation following heavy rain overnight and to continue to coordinate the response to flooding.<\/p>\n

They said responding agencies continue to monitor the situation closely and are ready to respond. The NECG will meet again on Saturday to assess the situation and outlook.<\/p>\n

Local authorities, transport agencies, operators and critical service providers are coordinating response and clean-up operations following difficult conditions overnight.<\/p>\n

There are road closures and disruptions to transport in some areas.<\/p>\n

The public is urged to drive with care, allow for disruption when travelling and plan extra travel time.<\/p>\n

When driving, reduce speed, expect surface water, debris, and poor visibility. Do not bypass \u2018Road Closed\u2019 signs or drive through floodwater; turn back and use another route.<\/p>\n

Flooding may impact transport services, and the public is advised to check with operators before their journey.<\/p>\n

People are also urged to check their local authority website and social media channels for information on road closures, flooding updates, and community alerts.<\/p>\n

Financial support from the Government is available to those who are directly impacted by flooding.
