Dylan Walsh<\/a> is reacting to the massive success and popularity of Heated Rivalry<\/a>!<\/p>\n

In the Crave series, the 62-year-old actor plays David Hollander, the father of Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams<\/a>).<\/p>\n

While speaking to Page Six<\/a>, Dylan admitted that he\u2019s completely blown away by how popular the show has become.<\/p>\n

Keep reading to find out more\u2026David, who has been acting for nearly 40 years, said that there have been many times in the past when \u201cI\u2019ll do something, I think, okay, this is going to move the dial,\u201d and nothing happens.<\/p>\n

At first, he admitted that he thought that Heated Rivalry would be like that.<\/p>\n

David she he \u201cthought it was going to be good,\u201d but since it\u2019s a gay romance show, he assumed it would only be popular with a \u201cvery selective kind of demographic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNot because I\u2019m narrow-minded,\u201d he clarified, \u201cbut because I know that a good portion of the country is narrow-minded. I thought it would have a little niche audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Nip\/Tuck alum went on to say that the overwhelming positive response to the show has been nice to see.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t see it doing much, and I have to say, I\u2019m so reassured by the response,\u201d David said. \u201cIt makes me realize we seem backward at times, but there\u2019s a lot more going on in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for what has made the show success and popular, David believes that there are several factors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, first of all, it\u2019s audacious,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s very bold, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

But, \u201cat the end of the day,\u201d David said that Heated Rivalry is about love.<\/p>\n

David also recalled creator, writer, and director Jacob Tierney<\/a> telling him that he wanted the actor to approach his role \u201cwith compassion,\u201d especially in the scene where Shane reveals he\u2019s gay.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe wheels are spinning,\u201d David said of Jacob\u2018s advice. \u201cYou have to absorb this. But there\u2019s a kindness and a decency when this lands that I think that it, combined with how bold it is, gives a lot of people\u2026I don\u2019t know\u2026it\u2019s a feel-good show at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n
