This underscores a growing appreciation among several companies that employees need to manage family responsibilities alongside their work, and that such policies can support better retention and sustained productivity, executives told ET.<\/p>\n<p>This January, healthcare firm Optum India, the global capability centre of UnitedHealth Group, rolled out a part-time work arrangement policy for employees navigating caregiving, health needs, or parenting transitions, intended as a temporary alternative to extended leave.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"india inc employee policy\" alt=\"india inc employee policy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/et-logo.jpg\" class=\"lazy gwt-Image\" data-msid=\"128045179\" data-original=\"https:\/\/img.etimg.com\/photo\/msid-128045179\/india-inc-employee-policy.jpg\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>The policy allows eligible staff to temporarily work four hours per day for a defined period with 30 days of prior notice to managers, offering flexibility within a structured framework for a minimum of three months. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ET logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/118783427.cms.png\" width=\"90%\"\/>Live Events<br \/>Amit Vaish, head of human resources at Optum India, talks of structured flexibility.<br \/>\u201cMany employees need structured flexibility during high-demand phases, not a binary choice between full-time work and stepping away,\u201d said Vaish. \u201cThe policy creates a clear, time-bound, reduced-hours option that preserves career continuity while giving employees the time away from work that they need.\u201dBereavement, too, is recognised as a tough time. Deutsche Bank has expanded its paid bereavement leave from three to five days, following employee feedback. \u201cThis enhancement ensures employees have the time and space needed during a deeply personal period, reinforcing our commitment to empathy and well-being,\u201d said Madhavi Lall, head-HR, Deutsche Bank Group India.<\/p>\n<p>Others like <a rel=\"dofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/titan-company-ltd\/stocks\/companyid-12903.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Careers#href\" target=\"_blank\">Titan<\/a> Company are supporting employees\u2019 transition into retirement.<\/p>\n<p>Titan is preparing a structured \u2018Second Innings\u2019 programme to support retiring employees and their partners through addressing the emotional dimensions of retirement, and reimagining identity and purpose beyond work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe intent is to go beyond financial preparedness &#8211; though that is a part of it &#8211; by creating safe spaces to discuss fears, encouraging employees to articulate aspirations for this next phase, alongside access to financial counselling,\u201d said <a rel=\"dofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/priya-ltd\/stocks\/companyid-9018.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Careers#href\" target=\"_blank\">Priya<\/a> Mathilakath, the company\u2019s head of HR for retail, corporate and manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>Organisations in India are steadily broadening their benefits framework to better support employees through key life events such as parenthood, caregiving, illness, and bereavement.
