Henley cited a \u201cmiraculous\u201d 53 years touring with the band, which released its self-titled first album in 1972. He said he\u2019d like to grow more vegetables, spend more time with his family and travel back to places he has visited on tour. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe see the airports and the hotel room and the venue, and we don\u2019t get out much,\u201d said Henley, 78. \u201cI\u2019d like to go back to the places I\u2019ve been and see more of those places before it all disappears,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Also in the interview, Henley jokingly rebuked a popular claim that in America, \u201ceveryone loves the Eagles.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t agree with that,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have our detractors. I don\u2019t think people in America agree on anything right now. We\u2019re a staple. We\u2019ve been around a long time. We\u2019re some of the last of our generation to still be playing live.\u201d <\/p>\n
While discussing the band\u2019s \u201cGreatest Hits\u201d record, Henley said he\u2019s \u201cthankful for the group\u2019s perseverance,\u201d and he doesn\u2019t think too often about its record-setting sales and streaming. He said other things occupy him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have family, health and the state of the world and country,\u201d Henley said. \u201cIt\u2019s nice and we all appreciate it. We\u2019re proud of having put in the work. We have a good work ethic, which has enabled us to be able to play for the last 53 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat makes us happy is that we make other people happy,\u201d he said. \u201cWe say music is medicine and people need medicine right now because we\u2019re ailing in this country.\u201d <\/p>\n
The current edition of the band has eight dates remaining for its residency at the Sphere arena in Las Vegas, spanning February and March. The Eagles are then set to play the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 2. <\/p>\n
The four original members of the Eagles \u2014 guitarist Glenn Frey, bass player Randy Meisner, and guitarist Bernie Leadon \u2014 met while playing in Linda Ronstadt\u2019s backup band, then left to pursue their own career. <\/p>\n
The current touring lineup includes Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B.
