MediSave use under the MediSave 500\/700 scheme is already aligned for treatment of  Chronic Disease Management Programme conditions across polyclinics and hospitals\u2019 specialist outpatient clinics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">However, Mr Ortega\u2019s case involved diagnosis and management of his condition at an emergency department,\u00a0where treatment is not MediSave-claimable. This keeps processes simple for hospitals to provide timely vital emergency services to patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">To use MediSave at Singapore\u2019s public healthcare institutions, patients have to\u00a0sign an authorisation to allow one or multiple public health institutions to claim on the\u00a0patient\u2019s behalf. Mr Ortega was asked to sign the authorisation twice, as\u00a0his previous authorisation was inadvertently missed by the staff.
