Amelinckx, who works as a medical representative, said the situation left her so embarrassed, she \u201cdidn\u2019t say anything right away\u201d when her boyfriend came home from work.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t until after dinner that I realised it was actually quite serious. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a 17cm spoon in my stomach. <\/p>\n
\u201cOnline, everywhere said the same thing \u2013 go straight to the emergency room. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was only then that I realised how dangerous it could be.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doctors advised her the spoon was too big to pass naturally, and that she would have to wait at home until an appointment could be scheduled for a gastroscopy, Metro reported.<\/p>\n
Amelinckx described feeling \u201ctruly terrified\u201d trying to sleep that night as she felt the spoon moving between her ribs.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt bloated and nauseous, and I couldn\u2019t eat without feeling strange. <\/p>\n
\u201cSleeping was difficult because every position reminded me of the spoon in my stomach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two days later, Amelinckx underwent minor surgery.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t allowed to swallow while they pulled it up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey had to rotate it in my stomach, which caused a small gastric haemorrhage. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t pleasant, but I felt pure relief when it came out,\u201d she said, adding that she was pleased doctors weren\u2019t required to \u201csurgically cut open my stomach\u201d.<\/p>\n
The episode left Amelinkx with a sensitive stomach, some oesophagus damage and \u201ca few minor gastric bleeding episodes\u201d but nothing permanent.<\/p>\n
After the ordeal, she decided to keep the spoon as a memento.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy boyfriend wants to turn it into a work of art,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe doesn\u2019t know exactly what yet, but it will definitely be a unique piece. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the least such an adventure deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n
