Brljevich said it was a team effort and many people put their hands up over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of our members, Rod Haynes from Haynes House Haulage, transported the building up here. And then a lot of our members have volunteered time and done stuff at cost for us to put it all back together and refurbish it. So, we\u2019ve pretty much got a brand-new building.\u201d<\/p>\n

\" Prime Minister Christopher Luxon was there to cut the ribbon.<\/p>\n

He said the club first started discussing the \u014cpua site in 2016 and a decision was made that clubrooms were needed in the marina.<\/p>\n

Since the opening, Brljevich said they have been busy and feedback from members and the community has been overwhelming.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been run off our feet since Friday. Everybody that\u2019s come in there has been over the moon on the site, the building, the meals, the service. It\u2019s just been nothing but positive feedback.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said there will be some changes, particularly to the menu, by the chef who has become a local hero recently.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a story out there about a local hero that saved some kids\u2019 lives and everything at the Kai Iwi lakes. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat guy is our chef, and he comes with a vast amount of experience. He\u2019s been cooking in Russia and the UK. He\u2019s our chef, and we\u2019ve got a fabulous menu.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Haruru local Aaron Stott<\/a> stepped in after spotting children in trouble in the water at Kai Iwi lakes.<\/p>\n

In a post, Luxon said he was happy to have been there to open the venue.<\/p>\n
