A person has died and another has been injured in a crash which closed a section of the Main Highway in Auckland’s Ellerslie this afternoon.<\/p>\n
Police said the two-vehicle crash, which was reported at 3.37pm, occurred near the busy intersection with the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway.<\/p>\n
A female occupant in one of the vehicles died at the scene despite assistance from emergency services, police said. <\/p>\n
A passenger in another vehicle suffered serious injuries in the collision. <\/p>\n
The road remains closed between the intersections of Ellerslie-Panmure Highway and Amy St.<\/p>\n
“Police recognise this will cause serious disruption to travel through the area.”<\/p>\n
It asked people avoid the area if possible and to expect delays.<\/p>\n
A St John spokesperson told 1News it was called to the scene at 3.36pm, responding with two ambulances, one manager and one rapid response vehicle.<\/p>\n
One person has been taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.<\/p>\n
