Michael Keaton is facing backlash after his recent comments about Charlie Kirk\u2019s death<\/a> were shared on social media. <\/p>\n

Many gathered under a tweet posted by Variety<\/a> on Monday to call out the \u201cBatman\u201d star as a \u201cmoron\u201d for pointing out the \u201cirony\u201d in the conservative activist\u2019s fatal shooting. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis right here is why sooo many people checked out of watching anything Hollywood creates.Michael Keaton is truly a moron when you hear him speak,\u201d one netizen wrote via X<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201c3rd grade education on display again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe could\u2019ve given grace and just said the last sentence and left it at that,\u201d another social media user tweeted. <\/a><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, someone else said<\/a>: \u201cCharlie defended the second amendment so we\u2019d be able to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government, not so that we could shoot people in the throat because we don\u2019t like the things they say in debate.\u201d <\/p>\n

Though, it wasn\u2019t all bad. One fan spoke up on behalf of Keaton, 76, in the comments as they urged other social media users to be kind toward everyone. <\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s give Michael Keaton some credit for caring that Charlie will be missed by his family. Being mean in your responses to Michael is not helpful. We become part of the problem if we speak badly to others. We all have to be aware of our behavior and be kind to others. Charlie Kirk was kind to everyone. Let\u2019s be kind too,\u201d the person wrote. <\/a><\/p>\n

A second social media user shared that Keaton could\u2019ve skipped most of his remarks and \u201cgiven grace and just said the last sentence.\u201d Getty Images<\/p>\n

Reps for Keaton did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment. <\/p>\n

Kirk died last week after he fatally shot during one of his speaking engagements at Utah Valley University, which was one of the stops on his American Comeback Tour.<\/p>\n

Keaton made his original comments about the Turning Point USA founder \u2014 who was a large proponent of the second amendment \u2014 during his speech at the Investigative Reporters and Editors\u2019 50th anniversary gala on Monday night. <\/p>\n

\u201cBefore we start to get into the meat of this thing, I\u2019m going to take a minute to say that, regardless of how I probably \u2014 not probably \u2014 have disagreed with many things he said, Charlie Kirk leaves behind two kids and a wife,\u201d he started in his speech, per Variety<\/a>. \u201cYou gotta remember that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause in the end, shooting people will never answer anything, and the irony that he was killed with a gun is unbelievable,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
