{"id":27866,"date":"2025-09-17T14:11:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T14:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/27866\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T14:11:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T14:11:09","slug":"louisiana-parents-warned-about-benadryl-tiktok-trend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/27866\/","title":{"rendered":"Louisiana Parents Warned About Benadryl TikTok Trend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kpel965.com\/category\/louisiana-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LOUISIANA (KPEL) \u2014\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0Not all TikTok trends are all fun and games, especially when they involve consuming dangerous amounts of over-the-counter medication.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/KPELFM.png\" alt=\"News Talk 96.5 KPEL logo\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Every Louisiana household has Benadryl in its medicine cabinet for allergy flare-ups we all know too well, or excessive itching from those pesky mosquito bites that are impossible to avoid.<\/p>\n<p>But this latest trend on TikTok is encouraging teenagers to take more than the recommended dose in an effort to feel a euphoric effect.<\/p>\n<p>However, a teen nearly died trying to find the dose that would get her high.<\/p>\n<p>Teen\u2019s Heart Rate Spiked to 200<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmbfnews.com\/2025\/09\/10\/really-scary-horry-county-teen-nearly-dies-after-tiktok-benadryl-challenge\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WMBF<\/a>, the Benadryl challenge on TikTok, a family rushed their daughter to the hospital after her mother said she was hallucinating with a heart rate of 200 bpm. At first, doctors were concerned it was a suicide attempt due to the quantity of pills she ingested intentionally.<\/p>\n<p>However, the teen said she was influenced by TikTok videos where people claimed that Benadryl taken in large amounts gets you high.<\/p>\n<p>Pills Hidden Under Her Pillow<\/p>\n<p>The mother discovered Benadryl pills under her daughter&#8217;s pillow and a large amount of pills missing from the bottle, more than she had admitted to taking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw all of the different TikToks she had been looking at,\u201d the mother told WMBF. \u201cThey were all kids doing Benadryl, and it just kind of blew my mind. I thought that was a safe medication.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, this isn&#8217;t the first time a teenager has fallen victim to this challenge.
