{"id":279157,"date":"2026-02-11T19:07:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T19:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/279157\/"},"modified":"2026-02-11T19:07:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T19:07:10","slug":"where-will-the-annular-solar-eclipse-be-visible-on-feb-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/279157\/","title":{"rendered":"Where will the annular solar eclipse be visible on Feb. 17?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"f25cc00c-25ea-47f2-a9ab-3ed1fac2db23\">The first solar eclipse of 2026 will be a dramatic <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/solar-eclipses\/annular-solar-eclipse-2026-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-ring-of-fire\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/solar-eclipses\/annular-solar-eclipse-2026-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-ring-of-fire\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/stargazing\/solar-eclipses\/annular-solar-eclipse-2026-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-ring-of-fire\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">annular solar eclipse on Feb. 17.<\/a> The downside for most of us is that the stunning &#8216;ring of fire&#8217; will be witnessed by more penguins than people.<\/p>\n<p>Stretching 2,661 miles (4,282 kilometers) long and 383 miles (616 km) wide, the path of annularity \u2014 where the &#8216;ring of fire&#8217; will be visible \u2014 cuts across western Antarctica and skims the Davis Sea coast of the Southern Ocean.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"f25cc00c-25ea-47f2-a9ab-3ed1fac2db23-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Many more people will, however, be able to witness the partial phase of the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/15584-solar-eclipses.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/15584-solar-eclipses.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/15584-solar-eclipses.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">solar eclipse<\/a>.
