Matt Damon made a rare red carpet appearance with his wife of over 20 years, Luciana, on February 10.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2014who are parents to four daughters\u2014attended the Los Angeles premiere of the new film Crime 101.<\/p>\n

At one point, Matt\u2019s best friend Ben Affleck stopped by, and the three posed for photos on the red carpet together.<\/p>\n

Matt Damon<\/a> and his wife of 20 years, Luciana<\/a>, made a rare red carpet appearance on February 10 at the Los Angeles premiere of Crime 101\u2014and at one point were joined by Damon\u2019s longtime friend Ben Affleck<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Luciana wore a strapless black dress with a slit in the back, black heels, and chandelier earrings, while Matt wore a gray suit for the occasion. Luciana debuted a brand new bob with side bangs just weeks after rocking ultra long hair at another red carpet appearance.<\/p>\n

At one point, she posed in between Affleck and her husband, roughly one month after Matt’s comments on The Howard Stern Show<\/a> where Matt explained how, before they met, Luciana thought Affleck was \u201cthe cute one\u201d<\/a> after watching the 1997 film Good Will Hunting (in which both men star). Matt then jokingly added that after she met Affleck, \u201call that went away,\u201d referring to her crush.<\/p>\n

Matt and Luciana met in Miami, Florida in 2003, when Luciana was bartending and six years after Matt shot to fame in Good Will Hunting. They married two years later in 2005, and they share four daughters. The Damon family made a rare red carpet appearance at the premiere of Matt\u2019s latest film, The Rip, in January.<\/p>\n

Though Luciana sometimes serves as an executive producer (like on The Rip, for example), she\u2019s largely out of the Hollywood limelight and prefers to live a private life. She stays away from social media and told Vogue Australia<\/a> in 2018 that she\u2019s never seen her husband as a movie star.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you meet somebody that you have a connection with, that\u2019s just the person that you have a connection with,\u201d she said. \u201cAll the other stuff\u2014the movie star part\u2014wasn\u2019t really a factor. It was just Matt. To me, he\u2019s just Matt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Matt is an award-winning, bankable actor, he\u2019s never been into the fame aspect of his job. \u201cI got lucky,\u201d he previously told Esquire<\/a>. \u201cI fell in love with a civilian. Not an actress, and not a famous actress, at that. Because then the attention doesn\u2019t double\u2014it grows exponentially.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of the paparazzi, he added that they \u201ccan try to stake me out, but they\u2019re always going to get the same story\u2014middle-aged married guy with four kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the \u201cRadio Times Podcast\u201d<\/a> in 2024\u2014the same year Affleck and Jennifer Lopez<\/a> filed for divorce\u2014Matt said that he \u201ccan\u2019t imagine\u201d dealing with the scrutiny Affleck faces.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m fortunate to have been kind of excused from that part of it,\u201d Matt added of overwhelming fame, which he called a \u201cbizarre, disorienting feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted to get to work and so I kind of hid for a few years while I got my bearings,\u201d Matt continued. \u201cLuckily I fell in love with someone who was not in the business who would tolerate that side of it, and that really helped me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt and Luciana have a rule in their marriage that they don\u2019t spend more than two weeks apart, he said in an October 2021 interview<\/a>. \u201cI think you need to be with the person you love as much as possible,\u201d Matt said. \u201cMy wife is my soulmate. I don\u2019t like being apart from her.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the aforementioned Howard Stern interview alongside Affleck last month, Matt said of the night he met Luciana, \u201cI couldn\u2019t remember who I was with, \u2018cause all I remembered was her.\u201d To this, Affleck playfully added, \u201cHe knows why he\u2019s a good husband, because he\u2019s like, \u2018All I can see was her,\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018But also, you were hammered, and it\u2019s a little vague.\u2019 But he\u2019s smart enough not to say that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Getting serious for a moment, Affleck added, \u201cIt\u2019s a really gorgeous marriage and friendship and two people who, when they\u2019re apart and independent of one another, are one another\u2019s partner.\u201d<\/p>\n
