Feb 11 (Reuters) – Equinix forecast annual revenue above estimates on Wednesday, betting on strong artificial intelligence-linked \u200cdemand for the largest data center operator’s services, \u200csending its shares up over 6% in extended trading.<\/p>\n
As corporations race \u200bto integrate generative AI, the surge in demand for specialized data centers to power the technology has benefited Equinix.<\/p>\n
The company expects revenue between $10.12 billion and $10.22 billion for 2026, \u200ccompared with estimates \u2060of $10.07 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.<\/p>\n
Equinix also forecast first-quarter sales between $2.50 billion \u2060and $2.54 billion, above estimates of $2.46 billion.<\/p>\n
“Equinix plays an essential role helping businesses connect and manage increasingly distributed AI, cloud \u200band networking \u200binfrastructure. This is a \u200bsource of long-term competitive \u200cadvantage,” CEO Adaire Fox-Martin said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The company has doubled down on expanding capacity, investing in new data centers in emerging markets like Chennai, India and Jakarta, Indonesia, to capture accelerating demand.<\/p>\n
It reported revenue of $2.42 \u200cbillion for the fourth quarter, \u200bmissing estimates of $2.46 billion.<\/p>\n
Results in \u200bthe December quarter \u200bwere modestly impacted by the timing of \u200ca transaction related to leasing \u200bone of its \u200bsites, which is now expected to close in early 2026, the company said.<\/p>\n
Net income from continuing \u200boperations stood at $264 \u200cmillion in the quarter, compared to a year-ago \u200bloss of $14 million.<\/p>\n
