Jac Schaeffer<\/a> deserves a lot of credit for helping launch Disney+<\/a> thanks to her smash-hit series WandaVision<\/a>. The Elizabeth Olsen<\/a> and Paul Bettany<\/a>-led superhero show that blended multiple genres was among the platform’s first. It became a global smash hit, earning dozens of award nominations and changing the narrative around superhero stories. Three years later, Schaeffer returned with Agatha All Along<\/a>, a spin-off of WandaVision that was also a hit. The series focused on Kathryn Hahn<\/a>‘s character, Agatha, in the aftermath of the events in its predecessor. Fans have been asking for another season to continue the story after the explosive revelation about Teen (Joe Locke), but those wishes seem to have been dashed.<\/p>\n

A new report today<\/a> reveals that Schaeffer has left Disney for Amazon MGM, where she has signed a three-year deal with the studio. She takes her talents to develop, write, executive produce, and direct shows for the global streaming service Prime Video<\/a> and Amazon MGM Studios. No announcements about any projects she might have for her new home have been made yet. Before her departure, Schaeffer directed the pilot episode of Holes and contributed to the story of the Marvel film Black Widow<\/a> starring Scarlett Johansson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Is ‘Agatha All Along’ a Good Show?<\/p>\n

Agatha All Along became an instant critic and fan favorite when it premiered. Like its predecessor, the project became famous for keeping its storyline a secret, allowing viewers to discover everything as the story played out. It is rated 84% by critics on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with an 82% audience rating. Collider’s Taylor Gates<\/a> appreciated the show shining the spotlight on characters who would otherwise be ignored. She also lauded its magical elements and aesthetic value. “Fans who have been anxiously awaiting Agatha All Along since WandaVision ended are sure to be satisfied with where things go. Not only that, but the show serves as a compelling entry point for new fans, too, feeling like the beginning of a new, magic-heavy side of the MCU with the kind of characters who haven\u2019t been given the spotlight before,” Gates wrote in her review of Agatha All Along Season 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And even with the future of Agatha All Along uncertain, fans can look forward to the next series in this cluster, VisionQuest. Schaeffer was attached as the head writer, but she left, and Terry Matalas<\/a> took over. Bettany reprises his role as Vision in the sequel that explores what happened to the character after the events of WandaVision. The series is expected to be released this year on Disney+.<\/p>\n
