Significant flooding and slips have closed highways in \u014ctorohanga, Waikato, as heavy rain hits the region.<\/p>\n
A number of domestic flights around the country have been cancelled or delayed because of poor weather this evening.<\/p>\n
International flights are not affected.<\/p>\n
Heavy rain warnings and watches are in place for much of the North Island, with downpours likely to continue into Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
An orange heavy rain warning is in place for Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty including Rotorua and Gisborne\/Tai R\u0101whiti.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Northland, Auckland, Great Barrier Island, Waikato and Waitomo as well as Hawke’s Bay and Manawat\u016b are all under a heavy rain watch.<\/p>\n
