{"id":282065,"date":"2026-02-13T10:43:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T10:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/282065\/"},"modified":"2026-02-13T10:43:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T10:43:10","slug":"katherine-lanasa-says-pitt-character-is-still-reeling-from-the-punch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/282065\/","title":{"rendered":"Katherine LaNasa Says Pitt Character is &#8216;Still Reeling From the Punch&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t[The following story contains spoilers from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/the-pitt\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-pitt_1\" data-tag=\"the-pitt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Pitt<\/a> season two, episode six, \u201c12 p.m.\u201d]<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/katherine-lanasa-interview-the-pitt-1236461223\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Katherine LaNasa<\/a>\u2018s charge nurse Dana Evans is showing her young wide-eyed trainee Emma (La\u00ebtitia Hollard) the ropes at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/the-pitt-season-2-premiere-robby-helmet-al-hashimi-tension-1236468065\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">season two premiere<\/a> of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-reviews\/the-pitt-review-season-2-hbo-max-noah-wyle-1236462762\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> The Pitt<\/a>, she mentions some best practices to help nurses protect themselves from overly aggressive patients, like the one who punched Dana in the face in season one, leaving her not only with some bruises but also with some doubts about whether she wanted to continue working in the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBut a few hours later, as seen in episode six, she\u2019s walking Emma around the emergency department and sharing more instructions about patient care when one patient suddenly reaches out and grabs Emma\u2019s arm. Dana rushes to her defense, frees Emma\u2019s arm and scolds the patient, ripping a sign off the wall and shoving it in his face, loudly noting that aggressive behavior toward health care workers is a felony.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDespite these laws and guidelines, LaNasa says Dana doesn\u2019t feel like they\u2019re going to protect her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI think she feels like she has to enforce that herself,\u201d LaNasa tells The Hollywood Reporter. \u201cI think she definitely feels vulnerable.I don\u2019t think Dana ever saw coming what happened. You know, I remember one time I read an article about Aretha Franklin, and they were asking her, like, \u2018Are you worried about wearing your fur coat, that people are gonna throw paint on it?\u2019 And she was like, \u2018Nobody\u2019s gonna throw paint on Aretha.\u2019 Do you know what I mean? She was not worried about it. And I think Dana never thought that Dana would get punched. Do you know what I\u2019m saying? So I think it really shattered her whole world view.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLaNasa says that while Dana is back at PTMC, she no longer feels secure. \u201cI don\u2019t think she really probably feels safe anywhere,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s one place she thought she would be protected, respected, and she\u2019s not. And so I don\u2019t think she feels that she\u2019s safe, anyone\u2019s safe. And I think the protective measures that she\u2019s taking towards Emma and wants Emma to take towards herself are really a way of trying to right the wrongs done to herself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnd, LaNasa says, Dana will continue to deal with the effects of the first-season punch throughout the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/noah-wyle-season-2-the-pitt-fourth-of-july-long-term-plans-1236467297\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">July 4 holiday shift<\/a> shown in season two.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI would say that Dana is bit on edge. I think she\u2019s still reeling from the punch. I think that took a big toll on her,\u201d LaNasa says of Dana\u2019s mindset at the beginning of the shift and day. \u201cI think she\u2019s kind of defensive, a little hyper vigilant, a little more short tempered, not taking any crap, you know. I think she still has her warmth, and in some ways she\u2019s still the same old Dana, but I think we\u2019ll definitely see a changed Dana, and I think it\u2019s not even really so much about where she begins, but like what happens to her throughout the day, and how the effects of that punch affect her and her behavior, and how that plays out throughout the day.
