It noted that job gains have slowed while the unemployment rate has inched up \u2013 even as it \u201cremains low\u201d.<\/p>\n
All eyes are now on Powell\u2019s press briefing, which takes place shortly after the rate decision is unveiled.<\/p>\n
The expectation of two more rate cuts this year is slightly more than anticipated previously.<\/p>\n
The Fed made its last rate cut in December, and had held interest rates steady all year as it monitored the effects of Trump\u2019s tariffs on inflation.<\/p>\n

Economists will be monitoring Miran\u2019s remarks and further votes on rate decisions.<\/p>\n
Separately, the legal battle by Cook \u2013 the first black woman on the Fed\u2019s board of governors \u2013 could have broader implications for the bank.<\/p>\n
A federal appeals court ruled late Monday that Cook could remain in position while challenging her removal over alleged mortgage fraud.<\/p>\n
But the Trump administration plans to appeal the outcome, potentially bringing the case to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe backdrop that we\u2019re experiencing, where there is increased political attention on the Fed, is concerning,\u201d Daco said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHistory has showed that in times when a central bank is under political influence, the economic outcomes are suboptimal,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
