Police are investigating after a woman was assaulted in her Hamilton home when she confronted two intruders last night.<\/p>\n
The incident happened about 9pm on Saturday in the suburb of Fairfield, when the woman confronted two men attempting to enter her Clarkin Rd address.<\/p>\n
Following the assault, the offenders fled the property towards River Rd, leaving the woman with injuries requiring hospitalisation, police said.<\/p>\n
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Neilson called the crime “appalling” and urged anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n
“Nobody should be unsafe in their own home and the victim is understandably shaken. We\u2019re providing wrap around support for her,” he said.<\/p>\n
“If you know something about this abhorrent crime, please come forward as soon as possible. Even the smallest detail could be crucial.”<\/p>\n
Reassurance patrols would be stepped up across the neighbourhood as the investigation continues, he added.<\/p>\n
Police also asked residents with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around Clarkin Rd to check recordings from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday for anything unusual.<\/p>\n
