Adams Ave and The Mall in Mount Maunganui have been reopened after geotech assessments on the stability of the landslides on Mauao.<\/p>\n

Heavy rain forecast<\/a> for the weekend resulted in the precautionary measure of closing the roads.<\/p>\n

\u201cPhysical inspection undertaken on site with geotechnical engineers, combined with a review of drone footage and remote cameras found there was no movement of the main slip site and the surrounding slopes\/boulder field,\u201d Tauranga City Council said today.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe area will remain closely watched by experts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the ouncil has advised that the He Maimai Aroha Community Care Centre<\/a> will close at 1pm on February 22.<\/p>\n

Established after the tragic landslide on Mauao<\/a> on January 22 that killed six people, the centre has supported those affected and provided a dedicated space for reflection over the past weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll condolences shared at the centre will be respectfully archived.\u201d<\/p>\n

Council said a plan is being developed for the future location or disposition of the condolence boards in consultation with the families.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to keep stakeholders and our community updated on next steps and timeframes.\u201d<\/p>\n
