iOS 26.4 is here<\/a>, at least in beta form, and delving into the code has revealed that Apple is preparing for CarPlay to let you watch videos when parked.<\/p>\n iOS 26.4 beta 1 code indicates CarPlay video support is in the works<\/p>\n Last year when iOS 26 was first announced, Apple highlighted many new features<\/a> coming to CarPlay.<\/p>\n One such feature, confirmed on Apple\u2019s website<\/a>, was support for watching videos in the car when parked.<\/p>\n However, unlike the rest of the new CarPlay features that all arrived in iOS 26.0, the \u2018video in the car\u2019 capability never shipped.<\/p>\n That looks like it might change in iOS 26.4.<\/p>\n Yesterday\u2019s beta 1 release includes a variety of CarPlay code references to the feature. Aaron Perris discovered one of the first<\/a>:<\/p>\n Additionally, 9to5Mac uncovered the following new code references:<\/p>\n CarPlayVideoPlayback_ClimateControls<\/p>\n CarPlayVideoPlayback_DestinationBanner<\/p>\n CarPlayVideoPlayback_Notifications<\/p>\n CarPlayVideoPlayback_OnBoardingFlows<\/p>\n CarPlayVideoPlayback_TempatedTVApp<\/p>\n None of this officially confirms that iOS 26.4 will be the update that enables video in the car. But it does appear that Apple is at least planning for that outcome at the moment.<\/p>\n One key detail to keep in mind: Apple\u2019s website seems to indicate that automakers have to sign on to enable the feature.
