Do a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/diet-fitness\/yoga-for-beginners-rcna11590\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">forward fold<\/a> while breathing in deeply to calm the nervous system, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Why It Matters<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-361b6f\" class=\"body-graf\">A good stretch, particularly to the upper back and neck muscles, can lower blood pressure and heart rate, and \u201cpromote a sense of well-being, as the brain interprets these particular cardiovascular changes as signals of safety,\u201d the authors of <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC12441015\/#phy270569-sec-0012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a September 2025 study<\/a> wrote. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-e5ad4d\" class=\"body-graf\">Essentially, stretching can remind the body and mind that they&#8217;re not in a threatening situation, allowing you to relax. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-e872c5\" class=\"body-graf\">A forward fold can ease tension in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/diet-fitness\/upper-back-stretches-rcna84448\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">upper back<\/a>, among other areas, Mansour previously told TODAY.com.
