Guitarist Adam Jones, 60, revealed plans for a New Zealand tour during an interview with Hawai\u2019i radio host Dave Lawrence, which was shared on YouTube last month.<\/p>\n

Jones and Lawrence were discussing the reasons for the band\u2019s decision to play in Hawai\u2019i.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re doing Australia and NZ, and we just went … \u2018God, we\u2019d love to play Hawaii and play Japan on the way home\u2019,\u201d Jones said. <\/p>\n

The band\u2019s fifth studio album \u2013 the 80-minute-long Fear Inoculum<\/a> \u2013 debuted at No 1 in New Zealand when it was released in 2019, making it the band\u2019s third consecutive chart-topper in the country.<\/p>\n

The group, who also include drummer Danny Carey, bassist Justin Chancellor and vocalist Maynard James Keenan, have been keeping themselves busy this year.<\/p>\n

In March, Tool played their first set at Lollapalooza in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. Two months later, they played a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the Back to the Beginning event in Birmingham, England.<\/p>\n

When the band last performed in New Zealand their stadium concerts led to the country\u2019s first major Covid outbreak scare.<\/p>\n

They performed twice at Auckland\u2019s Spark Arena in February 2020. A month later, it was reported a fan at one of the concerts was the fourth confirmed case<\/a> of the virus in the country.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until October that Keenan admitted on Joe Rogan\u2019s podcast that he had Covid while performing at the Auckland show.<\/p>\n

\u201cFood didn\u2019t taste right, but this is all hindsight, right? We didn\u2019t know at the time that these are the things you\u2019re looking for,\u201d Keenan said.<\/p>\n

He said he spent four days in a New Zealand hotel \u201cjust trying to get through it\u201d before the Spark Arena gigs. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was just drinking water, hot showers, taking care of myself, hot tea, just trying to get through it, and it sucked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
