\n\tDaniel Radcliffe<\/a> confirmed to People magazine<\/a> that he has spoken to his \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d co-stars Emma Watson<\/a> and Rupert Grint<\/a> about HBO\u2019s television reboot, specifically \u201chow surreal [it is] to watch people starting off on that journey, all those years later.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201c[We haven\u2019t had] a ton of communication about the show specifically,\u201d Radcliffe said while acknowledging the original \u201cHarry Potter\u201d trio is all aligned when it comes to the emotions of seeing new child actors step into these iconic roles.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s one of those where I think we all just know how the others feel, because we\u2019re also feeling it,\u201d Radcliffe said. \u201cYou just\u00a0see the pictures of these kids, and you just want to grab them and hug them. That\u2019s the impulse that I think that we, mainly, all have.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRadcliffe, Watson and Grint played Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley in the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d film franchise, which included eight movies made between 2001 and 2011. HBO\u2019s series reboot has cast Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron. Radcliffe told People<\/a> this new trio is giving him perspective on his own tenure playing Harry.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen you\u2019re 11, and you\u2019re doing something, you\u2019re like, \u2018Of course I\u2019m old enough to do this \u2014 I\u2019m the oldest I\u2019ve ever been,’\u201d Radcliffe said. \u201cBut now when I meet 11-year-olds, I am like, \u2018Whoa, that seems nuts.\u2019 It puts into perspective. Honestly, it makes me admire \u2013 and I do tell them this, but my parents \u2014 more than I was capable of doing at the time. Just going like, \u2018Wow, you got me through something crazy, and you did it with a huge amount of humor,\u2019 yeah, it\u2019s a big task.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRadcliffe\u00a0revealed on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d<\/a>\u00a0last year that he wrote a letter to McLaughlin after the newcomer was announced as HBO\u2019s Harry Potter. The young actor\u00a0later said<\/a>\u00a0it was \u201cinsane\u201d to receive Radcliffe\u2019s support and \u201cI was going mad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI wrote to Dominic and sent him a letter and he sent me a very sweet note back,\u201d Radcliffe said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be a specter in the life of these children but I just wanted to write to him to say, \u2018I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did \u2014 I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time.\u2019 And I do, I just see these pictures of him and the other kids and I just want to hug them. They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s crazy I was doing that at that age.\u2019 But it\u2019s also incredibly sweet and I hope they\u2019re having a great time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGrint\u00a0similarly wrote a letter<\/a>\u00a0to Stout in order to \u201cpass the baton\u201d to the young actor as he takes over the role of Ron Weasley,\u201d adding: \u201cIt was really just wishing him all the best with it. I had so much fun stepping into this world, and I hope he has the same experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRadcliffe recently made headlines<\/a> for urging the press not to always ask the new cast of HBO\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter\u201d about the original movies.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen these kids got cast, there is a whole thing around the internet being like, \u2018We have to look after these kids!\u2019\u201d Radcliffe told ScreenRant<\/a>. \u201cIf you really mean that, then one of the things you can do is don\u2019t ask about us \u2013 me, Emma [Watson] and Rupert [Grint] \u2013 all the time. I would like not to be weird spectral phantoms in these children\u2019s lives. Just let them get on [with it], it\u2019s going to be a new, different thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
