We’ve seen the classic Lara Croft<\/a> look, and now we’re seeing something a bit more modern, striking, and tactical, as new set photos from Prime Video\u2019s Tomb Raider series<\/a> show Sophie Turner<\/a> deep in the action, battling the rain during a dramatic knife fight sequence filmed in Surrey.<\/p>\n

The nighttime shoot transformed a quiet wooded area into a muddy battleground, complete with floodlights, slick terrain, and full-throttle chaos. Turner was spotted sprinting between trees, knife in hand, looking bruised and battle-worn before making a swift escape on the back of a motorbike driven by co-star Martin Bobb-Semple. Bobb-Semple plays Zip, Lara\u2019s trusted tech support and close ally \u2014 a fan-favorite character from the games.<\/p>\n

Has Sophie Turner Been Working Out To Play Lara Croft?<\/p>\n

Turner has been preparing for this role for nearly a year \u2014 and she\u2019s been candid about how intense that process has been. Speaking to ScreenRant<\/a>, she said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI can’t say much, but my preparation began in February [2025]. I’ve been training for a long time now, coming up on a year, and we’re going to start shooting in January. I’m really excited, but I feel prepped, and I feel really lucky to have such a great relationship with Amazon, and I’m excited for the world to see what we do with Lara and Tomb Raider. I think it’s going to be something special.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her training schedule has been no joke. Appearing on The Julia Cunningham Show, Turner revealed:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’ve been doing eight hours a day, five days a week since February last year, of training. Yeah, so it’s been a lot.<\/p>\n

I’ve learned I have a perpetual back problem, but I also realised that it’s much easier to kind of build muscle if you’ve ever worked out before in your life, which I never had, so it has taken me months and months and months to get into good shape.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Turner is best known for playing Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones<\/a>, she admitted that experience didn\u2019t exactly prepare her for hand-to-hand combat:<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I was the cool queen who, like, didn’t have to do that. I also just kind of was the one that got beat up, not the one doing the beating. So, it’s quite nice to learn how to throw a punch and not just take it.\u201d<\/p>\n
