AFP<\/p>\n<p class=\"nfOBuVOCysHhj\" style=\"display:none\">The AFP news agency reported that the British royal family has been \u201cthrown into crisis\u201d and called Mountbatten-Windsor\u2019s arrest an \u201cunprecedented blow\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nfOBuVOCysHhj\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cAs Andrew marked his 66th birthday on Thursday, police swooped on his new home on the remote royal eastern Sandringham estate around 8am,\u201d the agency reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nfOBuVOCysHhj\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cKing Charles III, who has promised police the full support of Buckingham Palace, swiftly issued a rare personally signed statement insisting \u2018the law must take its course\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nfOBuVOCysHhj\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cIt was a humiliating new blow for Andrew, who was last year stripped of his titles, and ousted from his Windsor residence of more than two decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nfOBuVOCysHhj\" style=\"display:none\">AFP quoted royal expert Ed Owens, who called it a \u201chugely significant moment for the British monarch, and indeed the [British] nation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nfOBuVOCysHhj\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cWe are witnessing a monarchy, I think, shaken by recent events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"nfOBuVOCysHhj\" style=\"display:none\">\u2018Unprecedented in modern times\u2019 &#8211; That question destroyed Richard Nixon.
