A Dunedin man wandering in the dark along the northern motorway was \u2018\u2018clipped\u2019\u2019 by a truck after walking out into the open road.<\/p>\n
The truck driver\u00a0noticed the 46-year-old stumbling into his lane\u00a0and managed to slow down to about 20kmh, Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said.<\/p>\n
As a result, the man was only \u2018\u2018clipped\u2019\u2019 by the freight truck, he said.<\/p>\n
When asked by police what he was doing, the man told officers \u2018\u2018he wasn’t sure how he’d got there\u2019\u2019, Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 1.10am this morning.<\/p>\n
The man was taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries, Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the night, members of the public had reported the same man walking into the road on State Highway 1 near Waitati.<\/p>\n
